Starting off right
This morning I woke up to a Monday with a slight worry about kids hangover. I felt unsettled and it was dark and just 5:00 am. The week ahead felt like a burden.
But then, I made the coffee, slipped on my Ugg boots, and walked over to my comfy chair in my billowy pajama bottoms and oversized sweater. I started to write and the foggy sense of ugh was replaced with a real sense of life.
I am allowing my essay to go all over the place and where it needs to. I felt the creative juices flowing. It was only an hour but I did the thing and felt better for it.
I then did a 10 min stretch routine while my sweet pup got as close to me as she could without interrupting my flow.
From here the morning picked up. I tended to my ritual of making the kids oatmeal. It's the routines that keep us going! Oatmeal with a splash of maple syrup, a sprinkling of flaxseed, and a small scattering of raisins. I then top it all off with some milk.
I then started the chicken breast that I cube and include with ramen noodles for my son's lunch.
I listened to Brandi Carlile while getting dressed and then me and the kiddos were off.
I was early to work and sat in the car eating yogurt from a Yeti mug and sent a text about a trip to Tahoe this weekend. I am climbing Mt Tallac with neighbor friends and I can't wait. The texts started to fly about dinner and coffee and yoga on the deck.
All this miles away from the first step on the cold tile in my bathroom.
