Tallac

This past weekend I hiked five miles to the top of Mt Tallac in South Lake Tahoe with four dear friends who also happen to be my neighbors.

Hiking this peak was a goal I set during a very wobbly May when my son graduated from 8th grade at home. I lived in a near constant state of anxiety and worry. My nervous system was stuck on high alert even as I knew intellectually I had to unhook from this.

Joyce, a spiritual healer I go to every few years or so suggested that I imagine merging with a mountain as a way to ground myself. This is when I decided I wanted to climb Tallac which is in my spirit home that is Fallen Leaf Lake.

I carried the crystal that I brought to that session in my backpack and held it at the top to shine in the mountain sun. Shine in did.

We made our way down the mountain talking all the way.

After we drove to Pope beach for a cold plunge into the lake. This was almost the highlight. I was hesitant and the water was soo soo cold. With some encouragement I finally went under and popped back out electrified and joyous.

In the morning we all stretched on the deck. It was chilly but the scent of sage and pine filled me.

I continue to heal. I didn't drink. There was no hangover.

Keep going and climbing and sloughing it all off in cold mountain lakes!
